JOB DESCRIPTION
Newberry College seeks an experienced and proactive Director of Career & Professional Development to lead our efforts in preparing students for successful careers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in career counseling, employer engagement, and program development, with a strong commitment to student success.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Employer Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with regional employers to create internship and employment opportunities for students.
- Career Counseling: Provide individualized guidance to students on career readiness, including resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Program Development: Design and implement workshops, seminars, and events that enhance students’ career development and readiness.
- Academic Collaboration: Work closely with academic departments to integrate career services into the curriculum and coordinate internship placements.
- Data Management: Track and analyze employment outcomes to assess the effectiveness of career services and inform continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of the Center for Student Success.
EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Human Resources, or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience in career services, employer relations, or a related area within higher education. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Demonstrated success in building partnerships with employers and community organizations. Proficiency in career services management software and tools. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty staff, and external partners. Proficiency with data management and assessment.
