Overview:The Moving Forward Program (MFP) Middle School ELA Teacher provides differentiated, small-group English/Language Arts instruction for students in grades 5-8. Using NCCS Learning Outcomes and an Orton-Gillingham-based approach, the teacher will foster academic growth and skill development for students with learning differences, guiding them to reach their full potential and impact their world for Christ.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 30 hours of Orton-Gillingham training through an approved training agency. (required)
- Valid Georgia teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned. (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university. (required)
- At least three years of teaching experience or completion of an approved reading internship program.
- Strong knowledge of learning differences (e.g., Specific Learning Disabilities, ADHD) and differentiated instruction.
- Proficiency with technology in and outside the classroom, including Google-based applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education, a specific content area, or a related field. (required)
- Special education certification and teaching experience. (required)

Responsibilities
Instruction and Assessment:
- Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans aligned with NCCS Learning Outcomes, tailoring instruction to meet the needs of small groups (1-4 students).
- Deliver multisensory instruction in reading, writing, and grammar using Orton-Gillingham methodologies.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments to measure student progress toward individual goals and grade-level standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with parents to communicate student progress and provide strategies for home practice.
- Work closely with the ELA Department to align lesson plans and assessments with grade-level scope and sequence.
- Collaborate with the Moving Forward team to develop innovative teaching methods, assessments, and instructional differentiation.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Director of MFP
