What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Trust & Estate Planning (Summer 2025) position at Northrock Partners, LLC?
Our competitive internship program attracts top undergraduate students interested in gaining invaluable exposure to the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) space. Over the course of 12 weeks, interns will gain real-world experience and relevant industry knowledge. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in challenging projects, interact with a variety of industry professionals, and further explore their interests in the financial services industry.
We are currently looking for an intern to join our Trust & Estate Planning team for summer 2025. Due to the nature of internship responsibilities, this position requires the ability to work on site at our Minneapolis office.
Essential Functions
- Assist in preparing estate plan summaries, reports, and documentation for client meetings.
- Conduct research on trust and estate laws, tax regulations, and planning strategies to support the team.
- Review and organize client documents, including wills, trusts, and other documents, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with trust and estate strategists to ensure timely and efficient follow-up on client deliverables.
- Help maintain the department's compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, managing files, and drafting correspondence.
- Participate in team discussions and strategy sessions to understand the broader scope of trust and estate planning services
Required Education & Experience
- The ideal candidate will be a law school student or a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in related fields such as finance, financial planning, with an interest in attending law school or obtaining a CTFA certification.
- Prior internship experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent technical writing and organization skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain organized while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A strong desire to learn and a self-starting attitude.
Our Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for this role is $24.00 per hour for law students and $20.00 for undergraduate students. This role is also eligible for Employee Sick & Safe Time (ESST). For more details on ESST, visit the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry's website.
