Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or comparable work experience) in early childhood, educational policy, or a related field of early childhood education, child development. Project management experience preferred. Collaborative skills and a team approach to accomplishing work are critical, as well as the ability to organize, prioritize tasks, work on more than one project at a time, meet deadlines and be flexible.

Duties Description

*This position currently runs from January 2025-October 2027, with the possibility of an extension*

New York State Was Recently Awarded The Preschool Development Grant Birth To Five (PDGB5) Renewal Grant #2 From The US Department Of Health And Human Services, Administration For Children And Families, Office Of Child Care To Do The Following

  • Conduct an updated birth through five Needs Assessment
  • Update the early childhood Strategic Plan.
  • Maximize parent and family engagement and knowledge.
  • Support the early childhood workforce.
  • Support high quality programming.

This position will be supervised by the Early Childhood Policy Director. The Pyramid Model Policy & Program Coordinator (PMPPC) will work closely with the Pyramid Model State Leadership Team, the Pyramid Model Implementation Contractor, and the PDGB5 grant team at CCF.

The PMPPC will support the implementation and expansion of the Pyramid Model across NY in a variety of settings including early childhood, parenting youth and other parent collaboration settings. The position will also advance Pyramid Model practices and policies. The position will involve frequent written and oral communications with a wide variety of people, including executive and management staff, co-workers, program and administrative staff, representatives of businesses and organizations, and the public. This position is integral to the work of the PDGB5 initiative and regular communication with the PDG B5 staff will be required.

Required

Out of state travel is required at least one time during the grant year. Some in-state travel and occasional evenings and/or weekend work will be required. This position is dependent upon grant funding. Specific Duties include:

  • Support the statewide implementation and strategic expansion of the Pyramid Model in NY.
  • Supervise and manage Pyramid Model contract(s).
  • Collaborate with partners to expand the number of Positive Solutions for Families facilitators across the state.
  • Process purchase requests and contract claims.
  • Present at state and national events on Pyramid Model implementation and policy.
  • Use Pyramid Model Implementation Data System data and the NY Pyramid Model evaluations to inform decision-making, planning, and policies.
  • Attend National Training Institute when funding allows.
  • Communicate regularly with the Pyramid Model State Leadership Team and Professional Development Network.
  • Meet at least monthly with the Pyramid Model Implementation State-wide Implementation Coordinators.
  • Assist the Early Childhood Policy Director in preparation of a wide variety of communications including letters, reports, and other documents.
  • Promote collaboration among new and existing partners including: the Early Childhood Advisory Council, QUALITYstarsNY, Aspire Workforce Registry, Prekindergarten, Preschool Special Education, Head Start, CCRCs, and others.
  • Participate in Technical Assistance with the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations when appropriate.
  • Assist with other duties as needed.

Background Investigation Requirements:

  • All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
  • All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.
  • For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
