Job Summary:
The Director Infrastructure Services oversees the operations of the infrastructure services unit, and acts in the place of the Chief Technology Officer when required. The position is responsible for ensuring the secure, reliable and efficient operation of all university infrastructure technologies, including wired and wireless networks, servers, applications, Internet connectivity, data centers, door access control systems, backup power systems, data backup systems, phone systems, and cable plants. It also includes core infrastructure technology services such as Active Directory, ADFS, Office 365, and Exchange email systems. Coordinates projects within the infrastructure services unit as well as communicating and coordinating with individuals and groups outside the unit. Provides ongoing communication and coordination with the CTO, ITS staff and the OLLU community to ensure prompt and successful resolution of assigned work orders.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise the staff and operational activities of the infrastructure services unit; includes the management of related project activities; the management and the successful prompt resolution of assigned support tickets.
- Oversees the unit's budget and expenses; ensures timely processing of unit invoices; manages related vendor service contracts.
- Manages the development, testing and updating of disaster recovery plans for infrastructure services continuity) for Infrastructure services and cloud hosted application support.
- Analyzes and reports on systems usage; monitors and addresses abnormal networking activities; develops plan for future growth and other needed changes; ensures infrastructure systems remain efficient, effective, and compatible with other emerging technologies.

Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge and understanding of a wide range of network, data, voice and video software and hardware systems and related technologies that are in use at the university
- Expert knowledge in providing in deploying and supporting fully virtual environments
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure services planning, development, and management.
- Working knowledge of information security systems, applications, standards, procedures, and practices.
- Working knowledge of cloud hosted services and experience with vendor management of cloud hosted services
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues while under stress.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Five (5) years' work experience managing similar infrastructure environments. Work experience in a higher education environment preferred.
- Three (3) year's experience as a systems administrator in a virtual environment
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Relevant industry-recognized certifications such as CCNA, CNE, or MCSE are a plus.
