Asphalt Plant Material Haul Driver
Job Summary
The Asphalt Plant Material Haul Driver is responsible for transporting asphalt and other materials from the plant to various job sites. This role requires safe and efficient driving, proper loading and unloading materials, and adherence to all safety regulations.
Essential Functions
o Operates truck in a safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area, and at various job sites to deliver materials.
o Performs daily pre/post-trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
o Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
o Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
o Must keep the vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
Required Skills & Experience
o Experience: Previous experience in driving heavy trucks, preferably in the construction or asphalt industry.
o Licensing: Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
o Skills: Strong understanding of safe driving practices, ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment, good communication skills.
o Physical Requirements: o Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
o Ability to climb in and out of the truck cab multiple times per day.
o Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
o Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. o Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
o Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate controls and perform maintenance tasks.
o Transmission Skills: All Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers must be proficient in operating manual transmission.
o Environment: Work is primarily outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
o Hours: May require early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends depending on project schedules. o Regulations: Must follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. This role is crucial for ensuring that asphalt and other materials are delivered efficiently and safely to support paving and construction projects.
