Ovintiv’s Texas Operating Area (TOA) has a terrific opportunity in the Permian Basin for a highly motivated individual to work on the Facilities Construction team as an E&I Construction Coordinator. This position is based in Midland, Texas.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical construction coordination and supervision of Electrical and Automation services for production facilities, well pad equipment, compression equipment and SWD’s.
- Work closely with the Construction Superintendent and our Health and Safety team to reinforce the culture of safety and ensure that Ovintiv’s safety values are an integral component of all construction projects in the Permian Basin.
- Work with the Permian Basin Construction Superintendent, peer Construction Coordinators, Electrical Engineers, and Facility Engineers to conduct construction reviews, and assist in bid package preparation and bid reviews.
- Develop an understanding of project scope and quality requirements as they pertain to the electrical discipline.
- Identify detailed quality requirements required by the contract specifications and applicable codes and standards.
- Work with electrical engineers to develop and maintain Ovintiv’s standard electrical and automation construction details and work packages.
- Ensure all construction projects are constructed and turned over to operations in compliance with applicable regulations, codes, Ovintiv corporate standards and electrical engineering design.
- Perform routine inspections of construction projects in progress and evaluate contractor performance and compliance.
- Be proficient in reading construction documents including scope of work, electrical 1-line drawings, vendor documents, etc.
- Be able to coordinate the low voltage electrical and automation work with medium voltage construction and mechanical construction to make projects run smoothly.
- Coordinate electrical equipment and automation inventories and deliveries.
- Review material orders to ensure accuracy.
- Manage contractors' scopes to limit change orders and unexpected cost.
- Develop contractors and maintain list of available contractors for electrical and automation work.
- Coordinate work to meet the overall schedule on each project.
- Monitor costs and facility construction cycle times.
- Ensure prompt handling of invoices review and approvals.
- Prepare and submit monthly cost projections.
Qualifications:
- 7 or more years of electrical and/or automation experience working in either the oil and gas industry or industrial construction projects. A current Journeyman Electrical License is a plus.
- Working knowledge of electrical instrumentation and controls.
- Working knowledge of construction industry codes relating to your area of expertise (i.e., OSHA regulations NFPA 70, NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B).
- Strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) experience/background; must demonstrate leadership competencies regarding EHS in field operations.
- Experience with construction safe working procedures.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is required; experience with record keeping, and written and verbal communications.
- Construction Project Management experience is strongly preferred.
