Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Early Childhood or related area preferred.
· International Baccalaureate (IB) experience and Level 3 Certification as IB PYP Administrator, Coordinator, or classroom teacher, preferred. Must be willing to participate in IB training.
· Valid School Administrator Certification or meet state requirements of MCL 380.1246 preferred or willing and eligible to obtain certification within two years.
· Administrative experience and successful classroom teaching experience preferred.
· Demonstrated knowledge of current early childhood issues and best practices, including C4L curriculum.
· Excellent written communication, organizational, and management skills.
· Demonstrated leadership and success in parent/community relations, staff development, human resources, and administrative practices.
· Knowledge and experience in management of grants, budgets, bookkeeping and recordkeeping for childcare programs.
· Extensive knowledge of childcare program licensing requirements and regulations at the state and federal levels
· Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
· Criminal background check including fingerprinting required through both Michigan school code and Childcare Background Check.
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Supervises: Childcare and tuition preschool staff employed through a third-party vendor, Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) staff, Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) teachers, paraprofessionals, and Executive Secretary.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the management and administration of the district’s early childhood programs, including but not limited to GSRP, tuition preschool, childcare and ECSE.
· Develop and maintain a nurturing environment that meets the developmental and learning needs of children.
· Responsible for the development, management, and submission of reports for early childhood grants and licensing laws.
· Maintain all safety and licensing requirements.
· Coordinate emergency drills.
· Develop daily, weekly, and yearly calendar.
· Oversight of curriculum, instruction, and licensing.
· Manage enrollment, tuition, and student recruitment.
· Effective communication with staff, students, and parents.
· Maintain essential records.
· Collaborate with the Shiawassee Regional Education Service District (SRESD).
· Responsible for completing necessary steps to keep Great Start to Quality and MiRegistry up to date for staff trainings and funding purposes.
· Promoting, leading, and evaluating the professional growth of staff. Working with staff to continuously improve program quality.
· Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent.
Salary/Benefits:
Starting salary will be negotiated in accordance with the candidate’s training and experience. Fringe benefits include vacation, sick leave, personal leave, two flex days, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, full family health insurance, dental and vision insurance, and terminal leave pay as set forth in the Administrator Agreement.
The Owosso Public School District is comprised of three elementary buildings operating during the school year, a secondary campus, central office/alternative high school and an early childhood center that is open year-round.
Approximately 3,100 students are enrolled in the preschool through high school facilities of the Owosso Public Schools. The student body represents an economically diverse population with approximately forty percent of the students coming from low-income backgrounds. The district is currently implementing the International Baccalaureate program.
