What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Forklift Driver position at Pacific Woodtech?
Summary/Objective
The Outside Forklift driver operates forklifts in support of the shipping department under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor to complete routine job assignments within the shipping department.
Essential Functions

- Load trucks, containers and railcars (ability to visualize finished load prior to loading)
- Read and understand the production schedule and bill of ladings
- Keep the production lines off loaded to maintain smooth product flow
- Read and follow railcar loading schematics and truck loading
- Stage domestic orders for shipping
- Cable down railcars
- Keep the yard clean and organized
- Keep shipping supplies stocked as needed
- Pre-shift forklift checks and refueling procedures
- Communicate well with supervisors, coworkers, truck drivers and other shifts.
- Work safely and efficiently
- Aware of potential packaging mistakes and correct
- Able and willing to train others
Competencies
- Must be able to operate forklifts and be signed off
- Experience with large lifts is preferred
- Knowledge of general Secondary Products Operation (bundles, tags, options, lengths, tolerances, etc.)
- Scissor lift operation experience is preferred
- Good visual acuity and depth perception
- Good eye/hand coordination
- Knowledge of general equipment maintenance
- Time management skills
- Demonstrated mechanical ability
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, regulations, procedures, and manuals

Outside yard- working with outside elements and weather all year round.
