Job Description

The Machinist – Level 4’s daily work includes developing new parts or making repairs to old parts for existing machinery using welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. The individual may identify and repair minor machine malfunctions. Works on assignments that are routine in nature.

Position Summary: The Machinist – Level 4’s daily work includes developing new parts or making repairs to old parts for existing machinery using welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. The individual may identify and repair minor machine malfunctions. Works on assignments that are routine in nature.

Essential Duties

• Focus on enhancing production efficiency by effectively managing time, monitoring tool wear, and using automation.
• Installation, repair, maintenance, dismantling, and movement of equipment.
• Assist engineers by testing and supporting machines, tools, equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot product designs and suggest or implement improvements.
• Repair, rework, or change mechanical assemblies to meet operational specifications.
• Welding work that focuses on repairing and supporting equipment by applying heat to bond/fuse metal surfaces or parts together
• Work with engineers to perform root cause and failure analysis as needed.
• May supply support to manufacturing to ensure product is created to engineering specifications.
• Operating manual equipment
• Foundational knowledge and skills with the ability to learn programming skills.
  
  

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements

• To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education

• Required: High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or minimum two years of production/manufacturing experience
• Preferred: 1 to 2 years of vocational training or associate degree
  
  

Essential Qualifications

• Possessing five years of experience within a machine shop environment.
• Four years of experience in maintenance, specifically in maintaining and repairing production manufacturing equipment.
• Four years of experience in manual operations, including using manual lathes, milling machines, boring mills, and press benders.
• Three years’ experience fabricating simple fixtures as we as performing metal cutting/trimming work using tools including welding.
• Strong mathematical skills in Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and a talent for three-dimensional thinking.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
• Must know English, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area in a collaborative environment.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in 3D printing and laser cutting technologies.
• Proficient in advanced skills in MS Office (Word and Excel), AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAM programming, and G-code programming.
