POSITION TITLE: CAREGIVER
Position Summary of Caregiver: The Resident Caregiver assists residents in all aspects of their daily life as indicated in the resident service plan, including: personal care, food service, housekeeping, laundry, behavior management, socialization, activities, orientation and information needs. This position requires tact, sensitivity, and professionalism due to the constant interaction with residents and families to guarantee their satisfaction.

- Residents Rights- Ensures that care is provided in privacy, ensures protected health information is kept confidential, reports complaints made by residents to the supervisor, and reports allegations of resident abuse, neglect, and/or misappropriation of resident property.
- Safety and Sanitation- Follows established safety policies and procedures, observes safety needs of residents as indicated in service plan, wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and properly trained to use, and demonstrates job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations.
- Staff Development- Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings to maintain current certifications applicable and as managed by regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Customer Satisfaction- Serves as a role model to foster customer service (e.g., participates as a team member during staffing shortages, managing moments-of-truth, etc.), maintains high expectations & standards for quality resident care, communicates ideas to improve customer services, is an active member of the resident care team and supports center goals, and acknowledges residents' I families' concerns and initiates action.
- Administrative Responsibilities- Maintains confidentiality of necessary information, participates in staff meetings, department meetings, and other center meetings and sits on required committees, follows Policies and Procedures manual, and performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
- Service Delivery-Environmental Services -Performing light housekeeping in residents' units, ensuring that all areas are maintained in a clean, organized manner, ensuring that residents' laundry is maintained and that residents have a supply of clean clothing, communicating any maintenance needs timely, and following all policies and procedures established in the Center Manuals to maintain a safe environment.
Other Responsibilities Include of Caregiver:
- Orienting and introducing residents to staff, building and other residents
- Interacting in a pleasant, respectful, and responsive· manner with residents, families, visitors, and staff
- Participating as an active member of residents services team and supporting property goals
- Acknowledging residents' and families' concerns and initiating action on a timely basis
- Performing all duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Demonstrating knowledge of emergency policy and procedure
- Attending and participating in all in-service education programs required by state and federal guidelines
- Utilizing resources and maintaining open communications with all facility staff
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
Required knowledge and experience in working with elderly, preferred dementia experience; Basic reading and writing skills, and ability to speak English in an understandable manner
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods; Ability to push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 50 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis; Full use of hands, arms, and legs {for washing, bathing, dressing, writing, cleaning); Ability to read thermometers, charts and testing equipment and ability to operate clothes washers and dryers and kitchen appliances; good physical and mental health.
Job Types: Part-time, PRN
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Overnight shift
- Rotating weekends
