We seek a detail-oriented, thorough, organized Manager, Accounting to join our growing team This is a critical position within the Headquarter Finance team that requires a great deal of dedication, enthusiasm, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to VP of Finance, the position is responsible for overseeing the HQ accounting functions including but not limited to monthly HQ financial statement preparation, consolidation, balance sheet reconciliation, Intra departmental and inter-company charges and information communications, as well as advancing to be the financial audit lead for year end. This role will require in-depth systems understanding (Vista & Visual Lease preferred) and advanced excel skills. The position will have heavy interaction with Peak’s operating companies and it’s operational and accounting teams.
Payrate: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintains adequate financial control structures including account reconciliations; prepare adequate supporting analysis for approval of significant journal entries.
- Manage the monthly close process to meet deadlines.
- Ensures GL bookings are consistent with US GAAP and leads technical accounting inquiries.
- Prepare accurate and timely GAAP financial statements.
- Responsible for centralized Lease and fixed asset accounting function for all operating companies
- Generate and record business and health insurance expense allocations.
- Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures designed to improve methods of accounting and internal controls for the entire company.
- Assists in other projects as needed including, but not limited to, tasks surrounding income tax filing request from 3rd party tax firm, ad hoc financial reporting, banking review and approvals.
Compliance and Audits
- Coordinates amongst Operating Companies and facilitates the annual external audit.
- Implements recommendations from audit findings to enhance internal controls and processes.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes in the corporate and operating company accounting and finance processes.
Success Factors:
- Knowledge of computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Vista ViewPoint (or other ERP software), and Visual Lease (or other Lease accounting software)
- In depth Knowledge of finance and accounting principles, practices, and regulations
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently, be self-directive and deadline driven.
- Desire to sharpen leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate, train and develop a team that can consistently produce high quality results within deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required
- CPA/CMA/MBA preferred but not required
- 4-7 years of related work experience required, including minimum of 2 years in a senior accountant role.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
