Job Summary:
Works from written and verbal instructions and practical experience to properly use the banding & packaging materials to meet all order requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work alone, or with another person to use the banding materials
- Be able to apply ID & OD bands on coils
- Apply WIP tags as required per order
- Able to lower the cart as needed
- Can operate the transfer cart to turnstile
- For coils less than 26” wide rotate the turnstile to line up the desired coils with the laydown table
- With the coils in position put the laydown table in manual and scan each WIP tag on each coil
- Place the laydown table into semi-auto to start the laydown sequence
- Visually verify that the horn only picks up one coil each cycle
- Advance the coil onto the scale and scan the WIP tag on the coil, the weight can also be entered manually
- Advance coil to the band head machine station
- For stand-up coils, separate the coils in the turnstile arm
- Follow all instructions in the JSA & WI file
- Be able to perform basic math, and read work instructions/packaging instructions
- Work in an efficient manner to complete work orders in the required amount of time
- Maintain all aspects of product quality
- Wear proper personal protective equipment
- Maintain a safe work environment by following the safety guidelines
- Complete housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean work environment
- Work overtime when required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, typically within the hours of 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Some overtime during the week may be required and some Saturdays are required as job duties demand.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Light to moderate noise; the warehouse requires a hardhat plus eye- and occasional ear-protection
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School degree, GED, or related educational equivalent.
Preferred Knowledge and Competencies:
- 1 year of packaging experience preferred, not required
- Experience working with steel, or similar material
- Basic arithmetic
- General understanding and ability to complete basic functions on a computer
- Ability to interpret and communicate written and verbal instructions
