Pinion's Conservation and NRCS Financial Assistance team specializes in aligning our clients' conservation objectives and farm improvement goals with financial assistance. What you can expect:

As a Conservation and NRCS Associate Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our operations, primarily supporting our Portfolio Manager and internal operations department.

Your focus will be on helping landowners and farmers develop, implement and maintain a conservation plan that aligns their conservation goals with Farm Bill initiatives. As a team member you will be participating in tasks such as inventory and evaluation, providing recommendations for feasible practices to address resource concerns, developing tailored conservation plans, and assisting farmers to maintain compliance with various policies, rules, technical specifications, and program regulations. You will have the opportunity to work with ag producers throughout the US encompassing a variety of regions and crop production.

You will be required to receive certification as a Technical Service Provider (TSP) and subsequently manage TSPs to ensure compliance with NRCS rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery: Drive projects to successful completion by aligning with strategic goals, coordinating resources, and managing project elements.

Client Liaison: Serve as a key point of contact between clients and the project team, offering guidance and resolving issues that may arise during operational activities.

Leadership in Conservation: Take the lead in prospecting, developing, engineering, and implementing NRCS, not-for-profit, and privately funded conservation projects. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the entire conservation portfolio.

Problem Solving: Leverage your problem-solving skills to identify issues, propose effective solutions, and escalate critical matters to the Portfolio Manager when necessary.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and execute project work plans. Provide guidance to staff, particularly on large, complex, and high-visibility projects.

Risk Management: Utilize Microsoft-based and CAD-based tools to prepare project plans, identify risks/issues, and conduct studies to mitigate challenges.

Scope Management: Ensure alignment with sponsors and stakeholders regarding project scope, both initially and throughout the project lifecycle.

Communication: Facilitate regular meetings, follow up on tasks/issues, and effectively convey important information to senior management. Keeps daily records of time and work accomplishments and summarizes time and accomplishments for periodic and special reports.

What you'll need for this position:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, agriculture, agribusiness, agronomy, natural resources, or equivalent related professional experience
  • Two years of related professional experience within NRCS or USDA Conservation programs
  • Demonstrated ability to distill information and communicate effectively with clients, resolving issues and giving advice in a brief and concise manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong relationships across the organization and with client contacts
  • Polished communication and presentation skills
  • Sound judgment, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organization and project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Ability and flexibility to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to obtain TSP and Conservation Planning Level 3 certifications. State specific supplement requirements, if issued, will apply
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to client locations as needed (estimated 10% travel)

Bonus:

  • Experience with GPS data, GIS software, and/or CAD systems

Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000 to $100,000.

Remote Eligibility: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at a Pinion office or attendance at offsites, as requested/required by the firm and/or your supervisor.
