Reports to: Program Coordinator
Supervises: No other employees
Wage: Starting at $11-$20/hour and will increase with older grades
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Basketball Referee serves under the direction and general supervision of the Basketball Site Supervisor, Program Coordinators, and the Recreation Director. The basketball program begins in December for older leagues and in January for younger leagues. Leagues will run through February. Hourly requirements are part-time/seasonal and not to exceed 29 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary from week to week, depending on the league schedule. Basketball Referees must have general knowledge of basketball skills and rules. Applicants must be at least 14 years of age. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Working under direct supervision of the Basketball Supervisor
- Communicating effectively with participants, parents, and other staff.
- Refereeing basketball games.
- Attending staff meetings and trainings.
- Attending all assigned games
- Assist with setup/takedown and clean-up of facilities
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be at least 14 years of age.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Skills in communicating effectively with participants, parents, and other staff.
- Ability to referee basketball games
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Referees must have general knowledge of basketball skills and rules.
- Prior referee experience is preferred but not required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience working in a supervisory position is preferred but not required.
CONDITIONS
- Moderate physical activity. Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds
- Position requires walking, standing, lifting, and other physical activity.
- Work Weeknights and or Saturdays
