Position Title: Payroll Tax Filing Specialist
Position Overview: Payroll Tax Department for Payroll Processing Service Bureau
Reports to: Tax Manager / Payroll Manager
Direct Reports: none
Overall Responsibilities:
- Review daily Payroll Due Date Reports and Transmit Daily Payroll Tax files to make payments to all Federal, State and Local agencies and jurisdictions timely and as needed
- Assist with Quarter End and Year End reconciliations in software for all clients in preparation of QE filing
- Assist with QE and YE filing of returns and payments
- Assist with the research and responding to agency / government inquiries and notices received by us and by the clients
- Communicate with Federal, State and Local agencies as needed
- Assist with new accounts on tax service – review Tax Setup screens as requested by Implementations
- Assist with the final reconciliation and invoice for terminations from tax filing service / payroll service
- Assist with the preparation of signature ready quarter end and year end returns for payroll clients not on full tax filing services
- Customer Service pertaining to Tax Issues
- Assist with the completion and filing of tax amendments as needed by clients including but not limited to ERC, SS# changes, etc.
- Assist Payroll Operations team as needed and as time allows
Evaluation Criteria:
· 100% goal of Timely Tax deposits
· Client satisfaction / Client survey scores / Feedback from clients
· Feedback and evaluation from Tax Manager
· Efficiency, accuracy, and timely completion of daily and assigned responsibilities
Skills Required
· Knowledge of payroll and payroll tax filing
· Strong Customer Service skills
· Ability to function in a high pressure, time sensitive environment
· Very good knowledge of PC based productivity tools including but not limited to Excel, Access, Windows based programs, etc.
· Excellent follow up, organizational and resource planning skills
· Knowledge of iSolved &/or Evolution payroll software preferred but not required
Experience and Education
· College degree preferred but not required
· Minimum 1 year Payroll Tax filing experience
Salary / Benefits
· Hourly position: Overtime paid at 1 ½ rate for hours over 40 hours / week
· Rate negotiable depending on experience and qualifications
