Our company is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking CAD Designer to join our amazing culture. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure projects are executed effectively within budget and on schedule, while also maximizing customer satisfaction, safety, and quality assurance on all assigned projects. Responsibilities:
- Provide drafting support to produce system installation drawings, including floor plans, riser diagrams, and details using AutoCAD for Fire, Security, Building Automation, and/or Healthcare Services projects of varying complexity.
- Work on larger projects with greater complexity as needed.
- Deliver assigned projects effectively within budgeted cost and time schedules.
- Provide design or drawing assistance for projects during development and as-built stages of engineered drawings.
- Obtain electronic plans from engineers, architects, and owners, and design drawings from sprinkler and mechanical contractors.
- Create engineered drawings (AutoCAD, etc.) and prepare record drawings and O&M manuals according to project requirements.
- Work from rough sketches, schematics, and verbal instructions while maintaining project design, documentation, and submittal standards.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and codes.
- Apply intermediate and advanced drafting techniques and practical knowledge of electrical and fabrication problems.
- Review scope, product specification, application, and electrical requirements for code compliance and AHJ requirements.
- Participate in internal design review meetings coordinated by Project Managers and project turnover meetings with sales and project teams.
- Provide project team with all documentation, programming graphics, etc. according to standards and project requirements.
- Prepare and procure all project material purchases, obtaining design information from vendors, insurance carriers, owners, consultants, and AHJ as required.
- Facilitate all project permits and communicate design progress, completion dates, scope revisions, and associated costs to Project Managers.
- Perform change-order work only with formal authorization, assisting the project team with change-order pricing.
- Participate in initial site surveys and/or walkthroughs.
- Prepare submittal packages according to project requirements and revise as needed for approval.
- Provide operational support for the sales phase of projects when needed.
- May include providing training and work direction for other designers.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Experience: 2-4 years drafting.
- Expertise in AutoCAD 2012.
- Proficiency in general AutoCAD commands such as layers, xrefs, dimensioning, and 3D skills.
- Ability to read and understand architectural and electrical layouts and diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components.
- Technical skills and experience with fire alarm systems, security systems, and/or building automation systems.
- Computer skills, including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
