Immediate career opportunity for a full-time Staff Accountant to head up the Accounts Receivable Department at Progressive Careers & Housing. We are a nonprofit organization corporately located in Olympia Fields, Illinois providing services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with locations throughout Illinois.
The successful candidate should be proficient in General Accounting procedures relevant to the industry, Internal and External Auditing practices, working knowledge of AR, Financial Reports, Balance Sheet reconciliation, and GL Accounting.
Position characteristics include strong organizational and leadership skills, detail oriented, strong reconciliation skills, analytical and audit skills. Duties will include the processes that occur in an Accounts Receivable Department and other duties that may be assigned by Leadership. Along with supervision of accounting staff.
Basic duties include but not limited to:
· Review and reconcile census data to be used for billing
· Monthly billing of census data to state agencies for payment
· Reconciliation of payments to billing invoices and create deposit journal entries
· Timely rebilling of census data upon state rejection.
· Determine cause of state rejection and correct information/status
· Work closely with state agencies and Social Security Administration
· Follow-up and monitoring of rebilling status on census data.
· Detail reconciliation of Aged Accounts Receivable reports and rebill, correct balances.
· Develop and maintain ‘hot list’ of AR Balances and working to resolve.
· Maintain 3rd party day training AR with billing, payments and disbursements to vendor
Requirements
-Bachelors Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of related industry experience and GL Accounting.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 (intermediate to advanced level) - -Excel power user
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Managerial experience a plus
-Ability to work well independently and in a team with good organization skills
-Must have a strong understanding of financial and operational controls.
-Must be able to multi-task
-Microsoft Business Central is a plus
-Pass a background check by the Illinois State Police and drug test.
