Job Description: Manager of Philanthropy (MOP) at Project Chimps
About Project Chimps:
At Project Chimps, we're driven by a profound sense of responsibility to protect and cherish the lives of chimpanzees retired from research facilities. Our non-profit organization is dedicated to providing lifelong sanctuary and promoting the well-being of these remarkable beings. Through our mission, we aim to raise awareness about their plight and inspire change for a more compassionate world.
Position Overview:
As a Manager of Philanthropy at Project Chimps, you'll be at the heart of our fundraising efforts, engaging with individuals who share our passion for animal welfare and a better future for chimpanzees. Your role is pivotal in cultivating relationships with our most generous donors, providing them with meaningful opportunities to support our sanctuary and make a lasting impact on the lives of our chimpanzee residents.
Your Impact:
In this role, you'll be instrumental in transforming our donors' passion into action. By managing your portfolio of major donors, you'll connect them with our mission, share the stories of our chimpanzees, and demonstrate how their contributions directly improve the well-being of these amazing creatures.
You will have the opportunity to increase your project management and creative skills by developing and executing comprehensive fundraising campaigns including Giving Day for Apes, Giving Tuesday, Year End Giving and other opportunities that arise.
As a representative of Project Chimps, you'll have the privilege of attending high-end fundraising events and engaging with like-minded individuals who share your passion for making a difference. Your work will drive support for our mission, secure resources for the sanctuary's growth, and elevate our efforts to protect and care for our chimpanzee residents.
You will additionally supervise two donor coordinators and a data coordinator to ensure all levels of donors receive equal care and to help build the pipeline to major donors.
Qualifications:
To thrive as our Manager of Philanthropy, you must possess not only the skills and experience in major gifts fundraising and grant writing, but also a genuine passion for animal welfare and the determination to advocate for the rights of our chimpanzee residents. Your ability to build strong relationships, combined with your strategic mindset and dedication, will help us secure the resources needed to provide a lifelong home for these intelligent and deserving animals. Ideally, you will be based in the Atlanta, Chattanooga, Asheville, or other areas that have opportunities to develop relationships with donors and will be amenable to some travel.
Join our team at Project Chimps, and together, we'll create a brighter future for chimpanzees and inspire change for a world where they are cherished and protected.
