Provo City's Covey Center for the Arts is seeking qualified Dance Instructors to join our Spring 2025 semester!The Covey Center provides a variety of dance classes for all ages. The mission of our program is to offer non-competitive, quality classes for the community at an affordable price. Our classes are a wonderful introduction to dance for children who may want to move on to a studio later or for families who are seeking an alternative to studios altogether. We believe it's never too late to start dancing! Our adult classes welcome all skill levels, whether you are trying dance for the first time or would like to get back into it.

What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: Starting at $15.00 per hour

What are the main duties?
- Create dance lesson plans that balance creativity and technique.
- Teach dance classes to a group of students ranging from 18 months to adult. Current assignment is for Kinder Ballet and Kids Creative Movement.
- Collaborate with the Dance Studio Coordinator to plan music selection, costumes, and performances.
- Choreograph dances for performances.
What do I need to apply?
- Experience teaching a dance class and choreographing dances.
- Applicants that teach dance styles and age groups beyond those listed below are welcome to apply. Please let us know if you specialize in something we do not currently offer!
What are the hours and duration?
Dance classes are typically held Monday through Thursday in semester-long increments. Dance teachers often teach 2-5 hours per week, depending on teacher preference and availability.
Spring 2025 Semester: (January 3-April 25)
- Tuesday afternoons, 4:00-5:45pm (Kinder Ballet, All Abilities Dance)
- Thursday afternoons, 4:00-4:45pm (Kids Creative Movement)
Qualified applicants may be offered to teach one or more classes.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on December 11, 2024. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
