The Universal Banker I builds, maintains and strengthens Bank customer relationships by delivering an excellent customer experience. This position greets customers promptly, performs transactions accurately and timely and opens deposit accounts that meet the customers’ financial needs. The Universal Banker I works with the operations and sales teams to achieve personal, branch and Bank goals while adhering to compliance and operational procedures as well as applicable regulatory standards, requirements and policies. This position performs operational tasks to assist with the successful operation of the branch.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide exceptional customer service by promptly greeting customers and fulfilling their sales and service needs in a friendly and professional manner.
· Accept and accurately process a variety of financial transactions for customers, including typical consumer and business transactions, such as, cash checks, process deposit account withdrawals and loan payments, order checks, etc.
· Responsible for cash drawer and following proper balancing procedures and maintaining cash levels and outages with the parameters of the established guidelines.
· Identify transactions that require a Currency Transaction Report (CTR) and accurately prepare CTR.
· Process wire transfers.
· Identify sales opportunities to cross-sell other products or make referrals to other Bank departments as appropriate for their financial needs and to achieve personal and branch goals.
· Actively participate in the Bank’s Rewards program.
· Assist with branch operational functions, including but not limited to, ATM management, vault balancing and check imaging.
· Utilize cView, Synergy and other Bank software programs necessary for performing position duties.
· Respond to customer inquiries or information requests while recognizing sales opportunities.
· Provide account servicing and maintenance and assist with problem resolution for customers in accordance with all established procedures and regulations.
· Seek ways to improve processes to improve and enhance the customer experience.
· Review and maintain expert knowledge of products, fees and policies and stay current on Bank offerings for product suggestions.
· Advise customers on appropriate deposit account that meets their needs; open new deposit accounts in a professional manner following Bank procedures and policies.
· Proportion of time spent on teller and new account duties will vary depending upon branch traffic.
· Identify and recommend opportunities for increased efficiencies as appropriate.
· Research, compile and prepare reports, manuals, correspondence or other information required by management or regulatory agencies.
· Comply with government, regulatory and Bank policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three months of Banking and/or demonstrated sales experience required.
Skills, Knowledge and Performance Expectations:
- Demonstrated proficiency of Tier II authorities pertaining to check signing, core authorities and transaction limits.
- Ability to complete online and other trainings as required and within the given timeframe.
- Demonstrated ability to interact confidently with customers.
- Strong ability to identify, evaluate and resolve customer financial needs.
- Cash handling and/or payment transaction experience while following established processing procedures and controls.
- Demonstrated proficiency of the Bank’s core system as it pertains to processing transactions and opening deposit accounts.
- Expert knowledge of Bank products and services to better serve personal and business customers.
- Meet required sales and referral goals as established.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Expert ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with others in a timely and friendly manner.
- Expert ability to work under demanding time constraints and expectations, including prioritizing and handling multiple tasks throughout the day.
- Expert ability to work in both autonomous and team settings.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Position is located in a branch that requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Ability to travel to other Bank branches, including corporate headquarters located in Wyalusing, PA.
- Ability to tolerate moderate noise levels and a fast-paced retail environment.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive movement by constant operation of all office and computer equipment as required to perform position, such as a computer, copier/printer, fax, calculator/adding machine.
- Ability to communicate with others to exchange information through telephone conversations, electronic mail, writing letters and memos and face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams.
- Ability to lift objects on a limited basis of approximately 20 pounds.
