Summary
- The Slickline Operator oversees the daily operations of a wireline unit, manages helpers and provides staff leadership. The Slickline Operator promotes and maintains good customer relations. The Slickline Operator is responsible for all wireline operations both in the shop and in the field. The Slickline Operator is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and record keeping for the wireline unit, tools, and equipment.
Functional Responsibilities
- Assembles tools and performs Slickline services, i.e.: gauge runs, pulling and setting plugs, etc. in various field locations.
- Drives company pickups.
- Ensures the operations of Slickline services offered by the company are done safely, efficiently, and according to established standards and guidelines.
- Ensures that all safety practices are implemented before, during, and after the well service operation.
- Provides technical assistance to other field operation personnel on location to assure work is carried out according to set schedules and procedures.
- Completes all job-related paperwork.
- Performs troubleshooting of tools, equipment, and unit problems.
- Maintains tools, equipment, and unit.
- Supervises helpers in the field and in the shop.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of BSEE regulations regarding slickline requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in JSEA and Tailgate Safety Meetings
- Participates in 5x5 Safety and Observation Program
- Other duties assigned by Operations Management and Supervisor
- If on a job location with a supervisor, then the supervisor takes precedence on the job, and operator reports to the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Experience – 5 years
- Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operations instructions, and policies/procedures.
- Ability to write reports and simple correspondence and effectively communicate/present information to groups of co-workers or customers.
- Advanced Math Skills – Ability to apply mathematical concepts such fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Skills - Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables.

- This job requires frequent heavy work.
- Employee will be exposed to high noise and the potential of chemicals and fumes or gasses in the field environment.
- Employee will stand or walk 75% of the time and frequently be asked to bend, squat, or reach and occasionally climb.
- Employee will be on call for 24hrs
