Laborer - Material Handler

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Material Handler to join our team. This position is responsible for processing incoming fabric and other materials, as well as, preparing materials for production. You will be collaborating with the production team to ensure that goals are met while adhering to our quality standards. Must be able to operate and maintain all machinery in a safe and efficient manner.

• Organize and stock all material required for production utilizing First In/First Out.
• Maintain an ongoing inventory.
• Inspect/Accept incoming inventory to ensure correct quantity, quality, and racking needs.
• Count and label all materials as needed.
• Read and interpret orders to ensure correct colors of material are pulled and processed for production.
• Operate cutting equipment based on order requirements ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Maintaining equipment and making necessary adjustments to ensure consistency.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections, perform routine maintenance and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Coordinate with production to ensure efficient material usage and timely delivery of finished products.
• Recommend proposals for improving production, processes, quality and waste reduction.
• Follow all Safety, Health & Environmental Policies. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Collaborate with and provide guidance to other team members, including assisting in training possible new operators.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with good time management skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet production targets
• Ability to work well as a team and build positive relationships
• Effective communication skills
• Basic computer skills for recording maintenance activities and accessing production data
• Ability to meet production requirements
• Ability to comprehend written instructions
• Ability to pass and maintain a material handling equipment license for forklifts or an additional equipment deemed necessary for the job
• Willingness to work flexible hours when required
• Physical Demands:
• Continuous walking or standing
• Lift 50lbs.
• Must not be color blind
