Position Summary: Intermodal Dispatcher
- Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
- Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers.
- Act as a communication liaison through the tablet and two-way radio and answer incoming phone calls from drivers on the road.
- Main communication link to drivers, including load information, maintenance coordination, performance counseling and distribution of general company news and information.
- Ensure that each driver has an adequate understanding of all details of customer and company expectations on each load at the point of dispatch.
- Daily accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers.
- Resolve both driver and customer service issues that arise.
- Report reoccurring driver performance issues, customer complaints, and operational inefficiencies to the Dispatch Manager along with recommendations for change.
- Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last minute schedule changes.
- Monitor any sudden route changes or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries.
- Utilize independent judgment and effectively manage driver work assignments.
- Complete necessary database entry accurately and in a timely manner ensuring an efficient and steady flow of information.
- Professionally and timely respond to all email inquiries directed to the dispatch department.

Required Qualifications:
- Communication Skills: You will be listening and speaking to people by radio and phone. Your ability to listen, speak plainly and communicate effectively - especially in times of stress - will be essential.
- Ability to Multitask: Dispatchers often are moving a lot of drivers around at the same time, tracking their movements and keeping tabs on what they need.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Able to prioritize the most important situations, and think quickly on your feet in order to manage time effectively.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional weekends and holidays.
- Strong knowledge of the roadways throughout the immediate area
- Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations
- Strong written communication skills
- High school diploma/GED required
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and respond to different types of situations and personalities.
- Familiarity with MS Office and data programs.
