Position Overview:
A bankruptcy lawyer with experience in consumer and/or business bankruptcy to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer looking to significantly impact a firm that values expertise, professionalism, and client relationships. As part of our team, you will work on a diverse range of cases, including on behalf of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 debtors, Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 trustees, adversary proceeding litigants, and all parties in interest in the creditor's rights and insolvency areas.
Responsibilities:
- Represent individuals and businesses in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings.
- Represent bankruptcy trustees.
- Provide legal counsel to clients on bankruptcy-related matters, including debt relief options, creditor negotiations, and financial restructuring.
- Manage and lead cases from initial consultation to resolution.
- Draft and file bankruptcy petitions, motions, objections, disclosure statements, plans, adversary pleadings, and related documents.
- Negotiate settlements and work with trustees, creditors, and other parties.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in bankruptcy laws and regulations.
- Maintain and develop client relationships while ensuring exceptional service and advice.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff in a supportive and collegial environment.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in NJ.
- Experience practicing bankruptcy law (consumer and/or business).
- In-depth knowledge of federal bankruptcy laws and state insolvency.
- Strong litigation, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Client-focused approach with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
