This position will coordinate the logistics and movement of all construction related building materials for building highway and heavy construction projects and to assist in safe and efficient operations.
Job Overview
The Loader Operator is responsible for the operation of crawler or rubber-tired tractors of various sizes using a front loader bucket and assisting with all phases of the hot mix asphalt plant operations.
Duties
· Scoop, lift, load, or feed plant hopper with aggregates for processing.
· Maintain stockpiles of aggregate materials.
· Assist in maintenance of plants and yard.
· Maintain all equipment/tools.
· Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task; properly follow all Company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
· Perform other job duties as assigned.
Skills
- High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- 2 years of related asphalt plant operating experience.
- Previous experience in operating various types of heavy equipment preferred, but not required.
- Able to recognize various products by sight and to understand proper plant operation.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions; function effectively as part of a team; ability to work under pressure; communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
- Mechanical aptitude is desirable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, kneel, walk, talk, see, hear, push, pull, climb, bend, and stoop. The employee frequently is required to stand, (for up to 8 eight hours), walk (occasionally on rough terrain/in varying weather conditions), climb, use manual dexterity to operate tools used in the course of work, hear sufficient to hear conversations in person and via telephone and radio, and vision sufficient for distance sight and to read diagrams, manual reports, rules, regulations, laws and plans. The employee is occasionally required to reach, push, and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities occurring at the site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
