  • The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the project management team to ensure the successful execution of complex construction projects
  • Analyze construction drawings, floor plans, or sketches provided by clients and create estimates, budgets, schedules, and scopes of work based off the provided documents
  • Acquire project leads from clients and provide pricing/budgeting in order to procure contracts for those projects
  • Provide overall project direction to Project Superintendents and subcontractors
  • Develop relationships with property managers, tenants, brokers, and subcontractors
  • Research design parameters based on requirements of local building codes and regulations, and identify any potential problems or setbacks
  • Establish standards and outline specifications compatible with estimates and budgets; conduct value engineering as needed for alternative materials and methods
  • Conduct bidding for subcontractor quotes and lead pre-bid and pre-construction meetings on-site
  • Provide information necessary for establishing client contracts, job budgets within our accounting software, and send subcontracts once a project has been awarded
  • Monitor subcontractors, expenses, project status, and changes for every project and submit change orders when necessary
  • Prepare punch lists and ensure Project Superintendents complete them in a timely manner
  • Work with Project Coordinators to complete progress billing and provide close-out documentation

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess strong business acumen and supervisory skills
  • Must have extensive knowledge of construction drawings, plans, and major systems
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to safely drive vehicles to and from multiple job sites
  • Capable of interrelating with personnel at all levels of construction activity
  • Capable of interpreting, advising, supporting, and training staff, community, agencies, and clients
  • Capable of moving and climbing ladders, as well as working comfortably on roofs and elevated surfaces
  • Standing and walking at large job sites (interior and exterior) for multiple hours and up to 5 miles a day
  • Must follow company and client policies and procedures
  • Capable of clear verbal, written, and electronic communication
  • Must take initiative to complete tasks and look for opportunities to assist other employees
  • Personable and professional demeanor, work cooperatively, and customer service oriented
  • Organized, task oriented, and follows through in a timely manner

Education/Experience:

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as project manager, or similar role, in commercial construction

  • This is a remote position with the expectation that the Assistant Project Manager frequently visits jobsites in Raleigh, NC and the surrounding areas in order to properly manage projects. The employee may occasionally be expected to be in Ranger’s Charlotte office for meetings and training.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
