Skills and Experience for Success:
- Current Registered Nurse License by the Virginia State Board of Nursing
- At least 2 to 5 years of leadership experience in healthcare preferred
- Long-term care and skilled nursing experience preferred
- Experience with MDS, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations
- Knowledge of Quality Indicators and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Director of Nursing (DON) and assume responsibility for the administration of the Health Center in the DON's absence
- Share on-call responsibilities with the DON
- Provide the highest quality service to residents at all times
- Oversee nursing staff in adhering to physician orders for resident care and outcomes
- Monitor and manage resident care, ensuring comprehensive care plans are maintained and followed
- Direct nursing staff to ensure proper execution of duties, following policy, procedures, and protocols
- Oversee medical record documentation of resident services
- Actively participate in care plan updates and adjustments as necessary
- Assist in the orientation and skills validation of new nursing staff to ensure quality care
- Monitor and coach staff performance to meet nursing standards
- Complete daily rounds and assist with staff performance reviews
- Provide direct nursing care to residents as needed
- Assist the DON in the preparation of statistical and budget reports
