    Position Title: Central Office Clerk Full-time, 12-month
    Classification: AFSCME Group 4
    Reports To: Director of Human Resources
    Position Goal: To support all clerical functions related to the operations of Central Office; to serve as a direct clerical support to the Human Resources Department; and to provide a warm, welcoming reception to anyone accessing Central Office.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:
    1. Performs clerical functions related to operations of Central Office including, maintaining visitor logs, making room reservations, supporting District-wide events like Welcoming Day and Graduation, creating and updating a District-wide directory of personnel and services, and providing back-up to other Central-Office clerical staff, as directed.
    2. Provides designated clerical support to the Human Resources and Benefit Departments through, among other things, creating and maintaining personnel files, preparing Department mailers.
    3. Participates in the on-boarding process for all District employees and contractors through the creation, issuance, and maintenance of District-issued identification cards, key cards, and other similar District-issued property.
    4. Welcomes all visitors to Central Office in a respectful, warm, collaborative, and professional manner.
    5. Answers all phone calls to Central Office in a respectful, warm, collaborative, and professional manner.
    6. Occupies and maintains Central Office reception area in a clean and orderly manner.
    7. Provides oral interpretation and written translation of communications into Spanish/English as directed.
    8. Acquires and maintains a deep and broad understanding of the District’s departments and functions to help students and families access supports and services.
    9. Seeks and participates in training and/or professional development to enhance skills related to the essential functions of the position, as needed.
    10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee. This job description does not constitute an exhaustive list of responsibilities and management may revise it at any time.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum high school graduate with 3 or more years of experience in clerical functions OR Associate Degree with 1 or more years of experience in clerical functions (preferred)

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Strong skills in the use of a variety of office technologies including, but not limited to: Google applications, PC and Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc); Type minimum 55 wpm; Must be fluent in both Spanish and English.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    1. Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly in both English and Spanish.
    2. Ability to accurately provide translation and interpretation in both English and Spanish.
    3. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in both English and Spanish.
    4. Ability to use correct grammar, sentence structure and spelling in both English and Spanish.
    5. Ability to read and comprehend a wide range of instructions, instructional materials, professional correspondence, technical reports, manuals and memos.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    1. Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    2. Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations accurately and consistently.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
    2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
    1. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to all levels of the District and community.
    2. Ability to collaborate professionally with colleagues and district staff.

    11. Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks.
    12. Ability to perform duties that entail handling sensitive information with awareness
    of all District requirement and Board of Education policies and state and federal laws.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear and operate a computer. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times as in keyboard use/data entry. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; bend, twist and stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, such as office supplies. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception for accurate data entry and processing.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Position demands meeting deadlines with severe time constraints and the ability to work required overtime in order to meet reporting deadlines.
