The TRUST Center is a leading outpatient substance abuse program dedicated to supporting individuals in their recovery journey. Our comprehensive multi-disciplinary team is committed to providing exceptional group and individual counseling services. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Group Counselor to join our team. This role is crucial in helping clients develop coping strategies, manage their mental health, and maintain a commitment to recovery. Responsibilities
- Facilitate group counseling sessions to foster open dialogue and provide support to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.
- Develop and deliver psychoeducational sessions on topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, self-esteem, and stress management.
- Respond to client crises with appropriate interventions, providing support and guidance to manage acute situations.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff and other counselors, to provide comprehensive support for each client.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as requested to ensure continuous professional development.
Qualifications
- Minimum credential CASAC T with eligibility to obtain the CASAC credential within the first year of employment; CASAC preferred or QHP licensed by NYSED.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed care.
- Valid NYS Driver’s license.
- Strong group facilitation skills and knowledge of substance use disorders and addiction recovery.
- Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and excellent communication and crisis intervention skills.
