We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or technician.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and examination rooms.
- Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to the veterinary staff.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization when necessary.
- Assist with front desk duties such as scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries.
- Ensure that all aseptic techniques are followed during procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during medical procedures.
- Experience in kennel management, including cleaning and caring for boarding animals.
- Familiarity with front desk operations in a veterinary or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of pet care practices to provide optimal support to clients and their pets.
- Ability to administer medications accurately under supervision.
- Basic knowledge of animal physiology to assist in monitoring health conditions.
- Experience with animal catheterization is a plus, particularly for surgical preparations.
- Understanding of equine care is beneficial but not required.
