Competitive Team Gymnastics Coach

Red River Valley Athletics in Grand Forks, ND is hiring for a part-time competitive gymnastics coach to work within our Xcel program. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate and knowledgeable about the sport of gymnastics and committed to helping athletes reach their full potential.

Position details:

• 20-25 hours Monday - Friday, late afternoon and into the evening; summer hours may vary
• Position is year round and on-going; not limited to the competition season
• Weekend travel is required throughout the competition season. A typical season runs from early December through the end of April and consists of 6-8 competitions, including State and Regionals.
• Weekend hours are required 2-3 other times throughout the year for special events, including our home meet.

Candidates must:

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Possess an understanding of gymnastics skill progressions and the ability to develop lesson plans that support safe progressions
• Have the ability to adapt coaching methods to meet the needs of individual athletes
• Be able to create and implement intentional, productive daily practice plans to help athletes gain the skills necessary to compete in their desired levels
• Have an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of all the athletes in the gym
• Understand and effectively use the USAG code of points
• Collaborate and effectively communicate with all team coaches
• Collaborate and effectively communicate with administration
• Have an active USAG membership and be able to pass all applicable background checks

Job Responsibilities:

• Coaching groups within the Xcel program
• Create and implement intentional, productive daily practice plans to help athletes gain the skills necessary to compete in their desired levels
• Travel to competitions
• Collaboration with all team coaches to further develop the competitive program at RRVA
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment for all gymnasts
