What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project AWARE Mental Health Trainer/Curriculum Developer position at Rensselaer City School District?
Qualifications:
· NYS Educational Certification in the human services field (e.g. counseling,
social work, psychology or community psychology, educational psychology,
research and development.) and/or NYSED
Teaching Certification
·
Preferred,
3-5 years of successful experience working in the field of school or community
mental health and/or education, and should include execution of large-scale
projects
·
Preferred, Experience in K-12 school district and/or
community-based human services delivering SEL programming to students and
families
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
·
Computer
literacy skills, strong knowledge of trauma and community resources, ability to
communicate effectively both orally and written, sound judgment, initiative,
and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
· Develop a sustainable infrastructure to train both RCSD and LCSD in Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) programs (Youth Mental Health First Aid, Positive Action, PAX Good Behavior Game, Ripple Effects, Trauma-Informed Care or other EBP)
·
Support
the coordination, implementation, and presentation of program activities of
evidence-based SEL learning programs
·
Support
the implementation of a Universal Mental Health Screening process and develop
procedures to facilitate AWARE grant deliverables. Includes work with PPS
teams to identify students at each Tier level and support referrals to outside
agencies for Tier III students
·
Oversee
implementation of a District Needs Assessment; support data review and
programmatic needs, consistent with AWARE grant deliverables
·
Support
the revision and roll-out of the Youth Resiliency Toolkit consistent with AWARE
grant deliverables; train staff and partner schools per grant
deliverables
·
Provide
staff training for district Suicide Policy, consistent with AWARE grant
deliverables
·
Create/implement
effective building Crisis Intervention Response protocols for staff to
de-escalate students, prevent unsafe situations, and decrease student
discipline/suspensions. Collaborate with PPS staff to create this
process
·
Assist
in the development and implementation of Behavior Implementation Plans
