What are the responsibilities and job description for the Injection Molding Process Technician position at Rev-A-Shelf?
Position Summary: Set up and operate injection-molding machines to cast products from thermoplastic materials. Able to properly handle material, molded product and related inventory control. Must have experience and knowledge of proper operation of manufacturing and material handling equipment.
Position responsibilities:
- Prepare machines for startup, per set-up sheets and end of run activities as necessary labeled properly at least once per hour
- Set up and operate plastic injection molding machines
- Removal of tool from molding machine and prepare for next job.
- Position and secure molds in machines and make all required connections to operate tool safety. Ensure all auxiliary equipment is set to the correct settings per the baselines.
- Read specifications, blueprints, and work orders to determine setups, temperatures, and time settings required to mold plastic materials, as well as to plan production sequences.
- Ensure all rejects on the production line are removed and properly ground
- Verify dryers and loaders in cell are working properly at least once per hour
- Understand proper clamping and watering mold process
- Store all materials in approved manner and proper location
- Install and remove molds as instructed, ensuring the proper handling and storage of molds
- Ability to set-up the robot and end-of-arm tool (EOAT)
- Ensure all color and material changes are done correctly and in a timely manner in accordance with production schedule
- Apply material labeling requirements for bins, boxes and machines
- Ensure the proper requirements for knock-out (KO) rods, nozzle tips, eyebolts, torque wrenches, mold safeties, etc
- Understand safety on molds, machines, auxiliary equipment, and all lock-out/tag-out procedures
- Safely operate functions of material handling equipment: loaders, dryers, color machines, moisture analyzer, grinders, etc
- Ability to read/understand production schedule, Mattec/Plantstar
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area, apply proper cleaning steps to support changeovers
- Properly use and maintain all safety apparel and equipment, when and where necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Essential skills and experience:
- Must be able to read and understand written and/or verbal instructions
- General knowledge of various resin properties
- Understand basic function of the molds, core sequence, hot-runner systems, ejectors, etc
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Sound knowledge of industrial machines and mechanical processes
Preferred skills and experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Overhead Crane Operator
- Ability to operate a forklift
Reporting to this position: No direct reports
Physical Demands: Subjected to lifting fifty (50) pounds, Repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, standing and sitting, with or without accommodation
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
