About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP, Commercial Loan Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio that contributes to the growth and profitability of the bank. This individual will oversee the entire lending process, from client relationships to loan application, underwriting, approval, and portfolio management, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a loan portfolio to drive the growth and profitability of the bank.
- Manage individual loan portfolios, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Oversee portfolio maintenance, including managing matured and delinquent loans, loan documentation, financial statements, and loan workouts.
- Monitor portfolios for potential weaknesses, reporting any concerns to the EVP Chief Lending Officer.
- Manage the entire client process: loan applications, underwriting, approvals, closings, and post-closing activities.
- Provide excellent customer service, meeting financial needs promptly.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers.
- Work with your supervisor to establish annual sales objectives, integrating them into the department's sales and marketing plan.
- Make outside calls to solicit new business and generate new deposits and loans for the bank.
- Provide direct banking services to commercial customers, including reviewing financial information, assessing creditworthiness, and approving or rejecting loans within your lending authority.
- Submit underwriting and supporting documentation promptly.
- Participate in audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring compliance with HMDA data recording and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales performance.
- Stay current with the bank's products, services, policies, and federal regulations impacting commercial lending and services.
- Actively participate in business and community activities that enhance the bank’s visibility and customer relationships.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in commercial banking, particularly in lending.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Specialized training or education in bank lending.
- Strong financial analysis and underwriting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-specific software.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and sales skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Thorough understanding of bank products, services, and operating policies that affect bank operations.
- Visual and auditory skills for managing various tasks effectively.
Required Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to engage with clients and internal teams.
- In-depth knowledge of banking policies, risk management, and federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
