Job Description
This position provides classroom and on-the-road driving support for students of the Truck Driving Program. The Truck Driving Lab Assistant reinforces learning material and skills introduced by the instructor, assists the instructor with on-the-road driving supervision of student drivers, and helps students prepare for the commercial driver’s license and road test.
Minimum Qualifications
Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Truck Driving OR
relevant licensure Truck Driving AND One year of teaching /tutoring
experience in Truck Driving at the high school level or above OR
4 years of work experience in Truck Driving where no degree / certificate
/ diploma / licensure is required OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Valid Class “A” commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Valid Department Of Transportation (DOT) physical health card.
- Must successfully pass a drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualification
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to sufficiently explain and assist students with successful completion of the truck driving program.
- Bilingual/multilingual fluent in Spanish, Somali, Karen, Anuak, Nuer, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.
- Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations.
