Job Overview
JOB OR POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, responsible for providing psychological assessment with diagnostic services, learning support and consultation services to assist school staff in determining school program, service eligibility and interventions for students who have special physical, cognitive, social and emotional adjustment needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide information/consultative services which will enhance students’ ability to benefit from his/her education program, including placement/programs of intervention to parent to facilitate child development
· Provide leadership conducting meetings required under district regulations, state guidelines, and procedures and federal regulation to the members of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team
· Serve as a resources for program development at the building and district levels
· Evaluate student referred for special education in the context of an educational model at the assigned school(s) in order to assist in the establishment of an IEP as appropriate
· Write accurate reports, states apparent needs and strengths of individual students, reviews psychological report with the multi-disciplinary team, making recommendation for the students
· Recommend to and work collaboratively with the classroom team to develop, implement, and evaluate classroom based instructional programs for students receiving special education to support academic progress
· Work collaboratively with building teams, district teams, and outside agency teams to develop plan and implement instruction as appropriate, including behavior management systems, discipline, motivation, and learning styles
· Provide inservice, education and other skill-enhancement activities to school personnel, parent and others within the community regarding such subjects as human development, learning and behavior, parenting skills, instructional methods and behavior management
· Consult with staff to implement a data management system to collect and record historical and on-going student progress toward accomplishment of IEP goals and objectives
· Analyze collected data in order to recommend appropriate techniques, interventions, and interactions
· Work cooperatively with a building team, school psychologists, and/or other student services staff from across the district as necessary for student and program supports while managing time and the daily schedule
· Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies
· Write concise and detailed reports concerning observations, assessments and evaluations; prepare and distribute a variety of correspondence related to the multidisciplinary report according to defined procedures
· Maintain all required paperwork, physical and electronic, to ensure compliance and in accordance with records retention guidelines
· Work effectively as a member of a team, contribute creative solutions to problems, and use training and experience to support classroom instruction
· Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents, and district staff maintaining ongoing and open communication, including ensuring that due process rights are explained in the family’s native language
· Participate in professional in-service and other meetings as appropriate to further develop
· Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies
· Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract
· Implement and comply with District policies and procedures
· Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Knowledge of assessment, current testing instruments and evaluation techniques
2. Knowledge of and experience in implementation of Positive Behavioral Intervention supports (PBIS)
3. Knowledge of childhood social, emotional, physical, and academic development
4. Knowledge of Section 504, IDEA, and other state and federal regulations regarding the identification and placement of students in special education
5. Knowledge of community support resources and family service agencies
6. Knowledge and understanding of child development
7. Knowledge of legal, ethical and professional issues in K-12 schools
8. Knowledge of district, state, and national standards
9. Knowledge of and skills in best practice instruction specific to various disabilities
10. Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior
11. Skills in data analysis to assess, monitor, and inform instruction for student growth
12. Skills and abilities in organization, flexible scheduling, time management, and record keeping.
13. Ability to operate a computer and the skills to learn and utilize software and other technology in instruction
14. Ability to conduct, analyze, and effectively utilize a variety of assessment tools and techniques applicable to the student with learning, behavioral, neurological, emotional and other disabilities
15. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other professionals in a team setting
16. Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff, and administrators
17. Ability to maintain confidentiality
LICENSING/CREDENTIAL AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate for Psychologist for the K-12 level (out of state candidates must meet Washington State certification requirements)
2. Experience in providing psychological services in a school setting
3. Successful training/teaching experience as a special education teacher preferred
4. Successful Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Additionally physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.

Pay: $80,018.00 - $118,786.00 per year
