RJS Construction, Inc. is a growing general contractor performing work in the private and federal sector. We are currently seeking a Controller to join our professional team. A polished professional with good communication skills and the ability to be a team player is critical to the success of this position. Salary contingent on individual applicant experience. H1 Visa not acceptable.
Your Role with the Company: As Controller for this company, you will be responsible for handling the monthly closing process, assisting with financial statement preparation and preparing work in progress for all jobs, including job review meetings. You’ll also analyze WIP, drilling down on costs to identify red flags on jobs, and work closely with Project Managers to ensure they both understand and can interpret their financial reports. You will also prepare financial statements to submit to the bonding companies.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain General Ledger
- Compliance reporting for all governmental agencies.
- Managing cash flow and providing cash flow analysis, especially pertaining to individual regions and projects
- Contract analysis, review and compliance.
- Prepare Job Costing reports
- Lead and manage accounting personnel.
- Maintain project related records, including contracts, change orders and billings
- Review supplier invoices and terms related to projects and ensure proper coding
- Ensure supplier invoices are properly coded, timely approved and submitted for payment
- Report on profitability of projects to management
- Assist with any compliance reporting related to projects, including tax
- Assist in compiling the project assessment questionnaires
- Assist external CPA with audit
- Serve as a liaison between accounting and operations
- Create and maintain annual overhead budget with monthly reconciliation of variance to actual
- Review and report variances between project budgets and actual cost.
- Create monthly Project Work in Progress and Anticipated Cost Reports.
- Produce monthly financial statements and reports for Management
- Create procedures for each process in the accounting department and for other departments
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting Preferred
- 5 years as a Controller
- Minimum 10 years of Accounting experience
- Ideally familiar with Foundation software or a comparable software
- Knowledge of job costing a must
- Government construction accounting experience a bonus
- Experience in construction or related industry
- Background in monthly closing and financial statement preparation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
- Immense attention to detail required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
