Senior Automation Technician
Full Time / Part Time: Full Time

Service Line: Permian Basin WMS
Reports to: Service Line VP
SUMMARY:
The Senior Automation Technician (SAT) will primarily support the Water Management service line. The SAT coordinates, manages, implements and/or performs service, upgrades, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and training for DHI Automated Equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Perform Rig Up/Rig Down, Preventative Maintenance, complex trouble shooting of DHI Automated Equipment
- Work independently in troubleshooting ladder logic and repair problems with Programmable Logic Controllers and related components
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using devices such as multi-meter (ohmmeter, voltmeter) and ammeter (clamp) and meggers to troubleshoot electrical circuits and components to locate shorts, faulty connections, defective parts and replace or repair accordingly
- Prewiring of control panels and telemetry for field install
- Install various sensors, and PLC components
- Install and troubleshoot wireless communication equipment
- Service and support the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
- Basic knowledge with communication systems including Modbus (RTU and TCP/IP), Ethernet IP, and Hart Protocols
- Communicate with supervisors, and peers on equipment status and condition
- Ensure product quality and installation accuracy
- Design and implement custom automation solutions for DHI equipment
- Ensure the success of DHI water transfer automation initiative
- Mentor and train DHI personnel in troubleshooting, repair, and operation of automation equipment
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to learn new products, and equipment
- Experience with Ignition platform
- Knowledgeable of Controls Inc panels and j1939 CAN Bus protocol
- Electrical knowledge (VFD’s, power supplies, relays, contacts, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to effectively manage time, and be organized in day-to-day operations
- Must be proficient with use of various hand tools, torque wrenches, etc.
- Working proficiency with electrical measurement equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and various specialized equipment for communication and network systems.
- 480VAC/120VAC/24VDC experience
- Proven troubleshooting techniques and excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Candidate should be able to read and understand electrical plans, specifications, drawings, and installation schematics.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs as required
- Ability to lift heavy objects, bending & reaching as required
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle
- Travel required with the position
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Journeyman Electrical License or Vocational technical training is preferred
- Associate’s degree or equivalent degree in relevant field
EXPERIENCE:
- 4 years of technical hands-on experience specific to automated electrical equipment
- 1 years of experience with communication equipment (Cell Modems, Radios, Network Switches)

WORK SCHEDULE:
- Typical M-F Office hours. Occasionally weekends and nights.
- Office-based position. Travels to the field for mob/demob/ troubleshooting of equipment frequently.
- 50% Travel (West Texas)
- Midland, TX: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
