Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Progressive Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients who require close monitoring and specialized treatment. The Progressive Care Nurse will be responsible for managing patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring ventilatory support and discharge planning.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine care needs.
- Monitor vital signs and manage patients in a Level I Trauma Center environment.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Provide care for patients with internal medicine conditions, ensuring adherence to treatment plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and families on health management, including home care instructions post-discharge.
- Assist in discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition from hospital to home or other care facilities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and progress notes.
- Stay informed about workers' compensation laws as they relate to patient care.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to patient assessment and care.
- Experience in ophthalmology or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Ability to ventilate patients effectively when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient education.
- Previous experience in progressive care or critical care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with home care practices and discharge planning processes is desirable.
