We are currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Assistant.
Schedule: 1st shift (Monday-Friday)
The tasks and responsibilities of the Human Resource Generalist are outlined below:
- Documents and responds to employee relation issues such as complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints.
- Conducts and coordinates training courses and initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the company.
- Ensures a safe and secure working environment by working in concert with operations and facilities management to maintain compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) standards.
- Recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures in support of the operational efficiency of the organization.
- Develops understanding and mentors supervision and management in human resources practice/law.
- Maintains positive labor relations; drives open door communication policy in maintaining a non-union status in the organization.
- Prepares and maintains the Associate Handbook.
- Administers and facilitates workers compensation program; works with management to identify light duty accommodations; communicates progress and claims issues with insurance company claim representative; maintains documentation and medical records on individual claims.
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Administers local compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts and participates in annual salary surveys; analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and suggests revisions as necessary in order to be competitive in the market.
- Manages recruitment effort for all non-exempt personnel and temporary employees; monitors new-employee orientations; assists in the management of career development and succession planning efforts; employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places media advertisements.
- Establishes and maintains department records, personnel files and reports in compliance with related laws; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform with EEO regulations.
- Responsible to administer and manage workers compensation matters.
- Administers and provides counsel to management on progressive disciplinary matters.
- Process related questionnaires and documents for unemployment compensation matters, represents the company for any unemployment claims.
- Administers the local Human Resources budget to ensure the development of accurate budgetary assumptions and to include cost containment controls.
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.
- Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
- Responsible to perform all duties in a safe, clean and organized manner.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
The skills and qualifications of the Human Resource Generalist are outlined below:
- A.S. degree in a Business or Human Resources related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- SHRM certification preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in a Human Resources support role.
- Strong written and oral communication; presentation of training materials, processing of various internal and government required documentation.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Must have a working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software. (Microsoft Office, Visio, MS Publisher)
