Job Details
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing high level support to the Company in the areas of policy and legal compliance, employee relations, leaves of absence and other HR functions.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Support the role of Human Resources by ensuring HR initiatives, programs, and policies are fully understood and implemented within the business.
- Responsible for assisting with the full cycle administration of the hiring process to include interviews, background and reference checks, job offers and new hires paperwork and orientation.
- Responsible for the full cycle administration of employee leaves of absence in accordance with Company policies and applicable federal and state laws/regulations ensuring consistency with all employees.
- Under general guidance from Director, manage Company worker’s compensation program, coordination of claims, and reporting to mitigate risk and liability and ensure compliance
- Responsible for the full cycle administration of employee licensure compliance applicable to DHS and DDS laws/regulations.
- Partner with management to address performance management issues to ensure consistency and fairness, as well as alignment with Company policy and culture. Counsel employees and managers when necessary to help resolve conflicts and promote development
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to clearly articulate complex messages
- Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws and regulations including leaves of absence laws
- Broad knowledge of HR functions in order to exercise sound judgment in decision making
- Ability to create an atmosphere where employees feel free to express concerns and suggestions. Must be able to actively listen, demonstrate empathy, and maintain objectivity.
- Keen ability to interact with employees at all levels within the organization
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- 4-6 years progressive Human Resources experience including employee relations, leaves of absence and performance management
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Normal office conditions
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
- Office environment, consistent computer usage
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
- Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach
