What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sexual and Domestic Violence Case Manager position at Safe Harbor?
The Case Manager is responsible for providing client-centered crisis intervention, client advocacy, safety planning, supportive counseling, case management, and referrals for child and adult survivors of violence. The Case Manager must be able to deliver agency services and initiatives in a culturally sensitive manner specific to the person’s race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression.
The Case Manager works as a member of the Safe House Team to provide services to clients that reside in the safe houses. The Case Manager reports directly to the Director of Safe Houses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with clients to develop and maintain relevant and meaningful case plans. Provides concrete case management and access to in-house and external resources. Meets regularly with clients to support case plans accomplishment
- Refers clients to other agencies and resources and advocate directly with other agencies as needed to help client access necessary services. Maintains service partnerships with referral agencies
- Provides client-centered crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to hotline callers, and shelter intakes as appropriate
- Provides client-centered supportive counseling and case management to emergency shelter residents
- Works with shelter residents to maintain a safe and clean environment and supports the daily operations of the shelter offices
- Assures that appropriate house rules are practiced. Assists clients in identifying and fulfilling needs.
- Provides crisis line, office, and house coverage during the shift. Assesses immediate crisis needs of clients and address appropriately.
- Completes necessary documentation.
- Facilitates problem solving for in-house conflicts and crises, encourages and models appropriate shelter interactions. Mediates on behalf of residential clients when appropriate. Provides appropriate follow-up and documentation of emergency incidents or non-compliance of rules.
- Educates clients about dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault and options/resources available.
Administrative Duties
- Updates and maintain client and agency records daily and provides regular reports
- Represents Safe Harbor at designated meetings
- Participates in monthly supervision
- Participate in staff meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Spanish-Speaking preferred
- College degree in related field and/or five years of advocacy experience
- Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects
- Experience using Microsoft Office software platforms
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with team members and clients
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues of sexual and domestic violence
- Must work well with persons of varied sexual preference, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and with individuals who are differently abled.
- Previous employment or volunteer work in human services, community agencies or other related nonprofit or social change organizations a plus.
- Ability to remain patient, calm, and professional when working in crisis situations, and able to make decisions independently and as a member of a team
- Required to work occasional evenings, weekends and holiday hours
- Must have reliable transportation
Salary : $44,000 - $48,000
