About SAI Gulf, LLC:
SAI Gulf specializes in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels such as coal, coke, and petroleum coke in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region and samples over 45 million tons of dry bulk commodities annually.
SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities.
About the role:
In this role you will contribute to the company’s success by performing scheduled services, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment, instruments, and systems. You will be responsible for the preventive maintenance of prep and lab equipment along with maintaining the facility. Your duties will also include equipment calibration, inventory count and ordering of spare parts, and ensuring proper organization and housekeeping of your work area. The Maintenance Technician will assist with special projects, aside from daily tasks, and ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company policies. You will report to senior management and be a part of the IT department.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct calibration of instruments/equipment for compliance and accurate testing results. All findings are to be logged electronically
- Maintain and operate equipment by following the operating instructions and carry out routine instrument checks
- Perform necessary breakdown and preventative maintenance on equipment in the lab and prep areas
- Perform troubleshooting/repairs/upgrades beyond what is accomplished during a routine calibration or preventive maintenance in the lab and prep areas
- Perform modifications to analytical equipment to make them more compatible with specific user defined applications
- Complete all safety programs required by the company with satisfactory proficiency including comprehension of all safety hazards within the workplace and proper use of PPE
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Conduct safety checks to ensure safety devices are on and in proper working order (guarding and all safety equipment)
- Provide input for writing new Preventative Maintenance procedures and LOTO procedures for routine maintenance and repairs
- Perform bearing and belt replacements on prep equipment
- Perform general repairs to the building
- Work independently from verbal or written instructions
- Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE), relevant for tasks, is worn at all times
- Conduct all activities in line with internal standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintain regular communication with Management regarding job status, problems, etc.
- Assess all risks prior to performing the task at hand and work in a safe manner, reporting any accidents, near misses, and incidents to Management
- Be punctual and maintain an acceptable attendance record
- Minor maintenance and scheduling service and repairs of two fleet vehicles
Location and commitments:
- This is a full-time position with the primary location in LaPlace, Louisiana
- Salaried position
- This position may occasionally require travel, evening, or weekend work
- A commitment to quality service is a must
Technical and professional skills required:
- Proven experience in maintenance work or as a handyman
- Experience with equipment maintenance, welding, power tools, electrical equipment, and safety procedures
- Experience troubleshooting and problem solving
- Ability to enter reports and provide diagnoses of equipment breakdown
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Experience in repairing lab equipment or electronics a plus
- Valid driver’s license for the past two years with a clean driving record
- Read and write the English language, have legible handwriting, and be able to perform basic mathematics
- Basic knowledge and understanding of computer applications and software programs required to perform job duties
- Able to communicate in a professional manner with company personnel, clients, observers, and terminal personnel
- Ability to liaise with senior management and assist with investigations and deviations with minimum guidance. Report any potential incidents/accidents to management
