Financial Controller
Position Overview
Our Client is seeking a Controller to oversee the financial operations of the holding company and its subsidiaries. This role is responsible for managing accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, particularly within employee-owned business structures .
Qualifications & Experience
Required :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred .
- Experience : Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience , with at least 5 years in a senior financial management role . Experience with employee-owned businesses is highly desirable.
- Skills :
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Attributes :
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and independent .
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to :
Financial Leadership & Compliance
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and ERP software to enhance accuracy and efficiency.Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements .Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to maintain financial transparency.Financial Operations & Reporting
Oversee financial aspects of employee ownership plans , including ESOP administration, valuation, and compliance.Prepare and present accurate financial statements , including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.Oversee cash flow management , monitoring cash balances, forecasting needs, and optimizing working capital.Strategic & Operational Support
Assist senior management in developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with business goals.Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making .Drive process improvements within financial operations to enhance overall efficiency.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Key Competencies & Characteristics

This position does not generally require overnight travel .Occasional daily travel may be required for visits to office locations, training, or seminars.Physical Demands
