Sampson Regional Medical Center is currently seeking Senior Radiology Students enrolled in an accredited Radiology program in the final semester. The Radiology Technology Extern program is specifically designed for future Radiology Technologists entering Sampson Regional in the continuum between their final, senior semester.
Description:
Until a student demonstrates competency in a procedure, that procedure is to be performed under direct supervision. A registered radiographer: must review the requested procedure and patient condition considering the student's level of expertise; must be present during the entire procedure; must evaluate and approve the outcome of the procedure. The above-mentioned guidelines can be completed during their clinical hours-- clinical hours will not be paid hours. After a student demonstrates competency in an examination it may be performed under indirect supervision. A registered radiographer must be immediately available to assist the student. All repeat images are to be performed under direct supervision.
Eligibility:
-
Senior Radiology student enrolled in an Associate Degree Radiology program or in a Bachelor of Science Radiologic Technology program, in their last semester.
- BLS required.
- High school diploma required.
- Extern must take the ARRT certification upon graduation of Radiology program. The Extern has two (2) chances to pass the certification.
