What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Sandpiper Property Mgt?
The Staff Accountant is specifically responsible for creating periodic financial and operational reports based on the results of the hotel properties. The Staff Accountant will also create and maintain financial reporting systems; distribute periodic financial reports to internal users, banks, franchisers and investors as required by internal reporting requirements, lending agreements and franchise agreements.
Requirements:
Financial Reporting:
- Maintain the internal financial reporting system
- Ensure accuracy of information included in reports
- Update all internal reports (trailing twelve month operating reports (414), budget to actual analysis, Cost Per Occupied Room analysis, expense detail reports, and operating performance summaries)
- Create monthly regional company and fund level roll-up report
- Lead the distribution of all financial reports
- Develop reports as requested for internal purposes
- Create ad hoc reports as necessary
Primary Operational Standards and Processes:
- Manage the closing process and maintain the closing checklist
- Facilitate communication within the accounting department so that all deadlines are met
- Export data from accounting system and prepare draft internal financial reports
- Investigate and resolve issues that arise during the closing and internal review processes
- Collaborate with Accounting Manager to ensure all necessary changes and adjustments are recorded
- Complete final review and corrections of internal reports and generate final reporting package; distribute to internal users
Secondary Operational Standards and Processes:
- Create billing invoices (Accounts Receivable)
- Record Invoices (Accounts Payable)
- Resolve intercompany reimbursable billing matters
- Produce journal entries (standard monthly and adjusting entries)
- Upload transactions from the Property Management System
- Record payroll journal entries and assist with bank account reconciliation process
External Financial Reporting:
- Prepare quarterly and annual fund level consolidated financial reports in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare GAAP based management financial reports
- Distribute financial reports to external users as required
- Work with external financial auditors to facilitate the annual financial audit and preparation of federal and state tax returns
