AUDIT ASSOCIATE
Summary of Responsibilities:
Given a wide variety of accounting assignments with various levels of complexity, under the supervision of audit professionals. The expectation is that the assignments will be completed with accuracy and within deadlines. Performance is judged based on the quality of work, the ability to learn and apply accounting concepts, and the ability to meet time constraints. Could assist with both audit and tax related engagement assignments in a variety of functions, including: Participation in the administration of an engagement (i.e. confirmations, sample selection, etc.), completing audit testing procedures (i.e. bank reconciliation testing, disbursement testing, etc.), and assisting with tax procedures (i.e. completing forms, obtaining client information, etc.). This position provides impactful work that is critical to the success of our firm.
Essential Functions:
- Reconciles client records
- Calculates basic accounting functions, including but not limited to: general ledger entries, AP/AR, tracking payroll data, daily financial entries, and reconciliations
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and recognizing any trends
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements, advising management on needed actions
- Performs other basic accounting, auditing, tax duties as needed
- Fact checking data, notifying senior staff of any accounting errors
- May work on various phases of an engagement, including reporting, as assigned by Supervisory Personnel

- May be trained to work with financial statements using the firm’s software programs
- Performs audit related functions as assigned and supervised
- Performs tax related functions as assigned and supervised
- Effectively communicates with Staff client to produce information necessary to complete the engagement with a minimum of disruption to client.
- Attends and participates in professional education including in-house industry group meetings and participates in professionally sponsored training sessions.
- Becomes familiar with the firm’s policies and procedures.
Education, Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/Business Administration
- Current, successful bookkeeping experience is a plus
- Efficient in the use of QuickBooks
- Proficiency with computer, spreadsheet software program, and calculator.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and prioritize projects
