The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level related to sustainable engineering within Civil and Environmental Engineering disciplines. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2024. An earned doctorate in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment is required. Preference will be given to candidates possessing bachelor’s degrees from ABET accredited programs or equivalent. The CEE Department at SD Mines currently has strengths in environmental, water resources, geotechnical, structural, and construction disciplines, and we seek candidates who will complement these current strengths and extend departmental opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborative research within sustainable engineering. Excellence in teaching and research will be expected as well as potential to establish a strong externally funded research program and contribute to the CEE PhD degree program. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses related to sustainable engineering design at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as other fundamental engineering courses.
