Role Description
SE is seeking a Construction Estimator to join the preconstruction and estimating team. This position is a full-time role responsible for preparing comprehensive project estimates and managing key components of our construction projects, including bid packages, subcontractor proposals, and job scheduling. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of marine construction, shoreline, and specialty concrete projects. As a member of our project team, you will play a critical role in ensuring project success through precise estimation and effective project planning.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Pursue and track project opportunities through pre-proposal period.
- Analyze Project Specifications, Plan Drawings, and Bid Documents to determine the scope of work for assembling a Competitive Bid.
- Develop and provide supporting information for assembling detailed cost estimates; including labor productivity analysis, competitive materials pricing, efficient equipment utilization and pricing, and subcontractors’ selection and scoping fulfillment.
- Prepare cost estimates in response to requests for proposal.
- Participate in pre-construction planning tasks including, but not limited to drafting Subcontracts and material purchase orders, technical submittals, and preliminary planning.
- Monitor and track success estimates and project costs throughout the construction Project Build process.
- Visit Construction Project Sites as needed to assess conditions for accurate estimating
- Attend and document project pre-bid meetings
Qualifications
- Experience in cost estimation, data analysis, and blueprint review
- Knowledge of construction processes and materials
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Relevant degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Desired Qualifications and Abilities
- Experience in Waterfront/Marine Construction Estimating, Project Management or Project Engineering
- Familiarity with Heavy, Civil, and Marine construction contracts and industry standards
- Drafting and computer drafting skills
- Critical path method scheduling experience and use of associated software applications
- Experience with crane operations, rigging and commercial diving operations
- Experience with Hawaiian waters and port operations
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
